On 29th September 2019 The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride takes place again. All around the globe gentlemen (and ladies) will come together for a joint ride with their motorbikes. Donations will be collected for research against prostate cancer and suicide education.
History of DGR
Seven years ago Mark Hawwa, from Australia, founded The Distinguished Gentleman‘s Ride in Sydney. A picture of the character ‚Don Draper‘ from the tv show ‚Mad Men‘ riding his classic bike while wearing an elegant suit and tie inspired the theme of the DGR. Mark thought of it as an opportunity to take action against negative stereotypes regarding men and motorcycles. The DGR makes niche biker-groups connect ever since.
In 2012, over 2.500 riders from 64 different cities participated in the ride. Encouraged by this success of the first event, the next move was to dedicate DGR and its fundraising for medical research.
Half a decade later, an astounding 56.000+ riders from over 500 cities in 95 countries participated in the event, raising over $4.5M (USD) as a combined effort with the Movember Foundation as a partner. The donations went into medical research against prostate cancer and suicide prevention and help.
