"The Heroine delivery has finally arrived!". If someone would have heard this happy exclamation coming out of our shop, I could not have blamed him for calling the police straight away.
But of course there was nothing illegal going on and all we were so happy about was the delivery of the new HEDON Heroine full face helmet. And the British company's latest helmet does justice to its heroic name because look, craftsmanship, comfort and safety features are convincing.
HEDON "Heroine" - Overview
Available are two versions. The Heroine Classic comes without a visor but features buttons to install a visor or sun peak with. The Heroine Racer does have a visor and features three small air vents where the Classic has buttons installed. Apart from that both models are identical in construction and have ECE approval, meaning that the Heroine is road legal in all of Europe. It features a composite fibreglass and carbon outer shell and is available in sizes S-XL with two shell sizes - S/M and L/XL. The helmet' s weight differs depending on model and size. The classic in sizes S/M weighs around 1,080g and in sizes L/XL around 1,190g. Due to the visor the Racer weighs in a little heavier - around 1,290g for S/M and 1,360g for L/XL.
HEDON "Heroine" - Details
The HEDON Heroine offers the same beautiful leather trim we already know from the Hedonist and Epicurist helmets. Again, a variety of different colours is being used for the leather depending on the helmet' s colour and either steel, gunmetal, copper or brass is being used for buttons, studs, visor hinges and the metal plate featuring the embossed logo. You can add a personal touch by using one of HEDON' s tinted visors.
HEDON "Heroine" - Comfort & Operation
Once you slip into the helmet it becomes obvious that the HEDON Heroine' s inner beauty matches its outer appearance. It offers a firm fit and feels very comfortable thanks to the antibacterial natural leather lining. The top part of the chin strap is padded and feels comfortable on the skin due to its leather covering while the strap itself is supple and easy to use with the double-D fasteners. Please note that the Heroine's sizing is rather small so it is better to choose one size larger than you usually would.
Looking at the Heroine Racer you will notice that the visor is angled towards the edge at the bottom. Unlike most full face helmets that offer only one small ledge to operate the visor with, the Heroine's visor can be operated using either hand and without searching for that one little ledge. It offers only two positions, open and shut, but scores with its anti-fog double lens. The "second lens" is a sticker stretching over almost the whole Visor, similar to the pinlock concept, and should not be tempered with or removed. Otherwise the lens can fog up.
